The DynaKey - from concept to creation

November 30, 2009

Hello,

My name is Tim Gulley, the creator of the DynaKey – the device that lets you start your car with your phone!

My hope is to provide you with helpful and/or interesting articles from time to time in this blog, and I thought the best place to start would be to explain how this all came into being.

I got the idea for the DynaKey as college student in the Midwest. For those of you that live here with me, in Indiana especially, you know firsthand just how extreme the weather conditions can be on both ends of the weather spectrum. You may also know how convenient remote starters can be for your car.

With a remote car starter, you no longer have to dutifully start your car early and scrape off the windows before going to work every morning in the winter. I don’t know about you, but for that convenience alone, I would personally pay a couple hundred bucks (and have).

The benefits can also be seen in the summer, when the heat is at its highest, and the humidity hits you like a bag of sand as you step out the door. My car is nice enough to have leather seats, but not nice enough to have the newer kind of automotive leather that is textured. So in other words leather + sun + shorts = burnt legs. Besides, no one wants to hop into an oven of a car, right?!

Enter remote starters. They warm up your car in the winter, and they cool down your car in the summer; all without ever having to leave the house! The problem is that the range of the remote-start operation is limited, and even the most expensive models on the market that have the best range of operation not only cost an arm and a leg, but are also based on line of site. In other words, if you’re a college student, for example, and you’re sitting in lecture and want to start your car to have it ready and waiting for you once you’re out of class, you’re just plumb out of luck. No student parking is within normal remote-start operating range at IPFW, or to my knowledge, any major university.

This dilemma isn’t just limited to college students either. In fact, it applies to anyone who drives a car, who parks outside normal remote-start operating ranges at home, at work, or otherwise.

The need for solution became clear, and so came the idea for the DynaKey. Acting as a dynamic key, the DynaKey allows users to start their car with their phone, thus eliminating the range barrier of traditional remote starters on the market. Plus, with a retail price of $225, it barely costs anything extra. I speak from experience when I say this, because I paid almost exactly $225 for my old remote starter, with installation.

Another thing I wanted to keep in mind was that the whole premise for Advantagen is to create “Simple solutions to everyday problems for everyday people.” With the economy the way it is currently, though we’re slowing starting to gain ground, most of us, college students especially, are strapped for cash. And so that is why I’ve chosen to offer a payment plan to accompany this awesome new product.

So you can have one of these bad boys in your hands, for as little as $100 down!

The only catch is that this is a brand new product, and it’s so new, in fact, that production is still underway. We expect the first release of our product to reach market by the end of May, and we're looking forward to bringing you a great product.

If you’d like to be one of the very first people to ever own a DynaKey for yourself or if you think it’d make a great gift for a friend or loved one, all you need to do is submit your name and email address to VIP@click-vroom.com. You will then be put on our VIP release list, and you will be the first person we contact when the products become available. And as a special thank-you, we’re offering a special deal to all who sign up. What more could you ask, right?

In the meantime, feel free to check out the DynaKey FAQs, submit questions of your own, or just listen to some music.

Take care,
Tim G.
